The Shadow Robot Company are a growing international and world-leading robotics company to expand our software team and hiring a new System Administrator, who will support and expand existing infrastructure.

We have 15 different nationalities working within our growing team of 48 people. We would love to welcome you to our team in London providing support to our team from South America to Poland and lots of places in-between.

You don’t necessarily have to love robotics, but given everyone else here loves the robotic solutions they’re developing, it would be a major bonus if you do too.

Your role and mission:

  • To build, maintain and support a quality and comprehensive error-free technology infrastructure, establish and maintain an effective operational environment with 99.99% run time, and deliver quality, prompt, cost-effective, and reliable technology services to serve the best impossible experience for customers.

This is a Sys Admin and there’s also the IT Support aspect of the role. You will set up accounts and purchasing equipment for our new employees and clients as well as dealing with office equipment such as printers.

As a key member of our team where all team members are your ‘customer’, we’d love if you have experience supporting a distributed team and know what it takes to support people remotely. Prior to the pandemic, some of our team were already remote so we know how to ensure you feel very much a part of the company from day one.

  • Provides helpdesk support for all team members including contractors
  • Maintain local equipment (printers, desktop PCs, etc) and support remote offices and remote workers also
  • Ensuring overall performance and prevent downtime
  • Checking IT asset Information accuracy
  • Configuration of telecommunications systems as needed
  • Diagnosing and resolving problems in response to reported incidents
  • Investigating and recommending the purchase of tools and technologies to improve responsiveness to the requirement
  • Installations of IT equipment
  • Responsible for Asset Management
  • You’ll define, manage, debug and help maintain the network infrastructure (for both humans and robots).
  • Google Workspace and user admin
  • Assist with design and implement system changes to maintain security and usability.


About You

Your technical skills and experience will include the following:

  • Bash scripting
  • Windows 10 system administration experience (group policy, Powershell, firewalls)
  • Enterprise router management
  • Firewall management in Ubuntu/Windows/Routers
  • Networking experience (OpenVPN, IPSec VPN)
  • Experience dealing with cybersecurity


It would be good if you had experience or knowledge of any of the following also:

  • Linux (Work environment experience essential, Ubuntu would be preferable but also Debian 9 and 10)
  • Enterprise switch management
  • Jira/Confluence
  • Experience with remote support (team viewer, ssh, etc)


Your personality and experience to date will show:

  • You’re a team player
  • Love being a part of a small team
  • Good communication skills (able to liaise with software engineers, product development, as well as non-technical people such as operations, bus dev and project managers)
  • You love supporting people and ensuring the best outcome is achieved
  • You are fluent in English as the people you’ll be supporting are based across the UK, mainland European countries, South America and Spain also!
  • You’re a System Administrator/SysAdmin in your current role
  • You love solving problems and using your analysis skills
  • Able to start rather quickly so ideally you’ll already be living and working in London
  • The role involves packing/unpacking equipment, some of which might be heavy, so be prepared for some heavy lifting.
  • Willing to travel to our Madrid team as needed (post-pandemic)


Salary: £30,000 to £35,000 per year full-time; salary will be pro-rated for part-time

Hours per week: 20 to 30 hours across Monday to Friday 

Based: Gospel Oak, London
